She's Here!!

Delilah Margaret made her arrival last night (4/27) at 7:44pm. 6 pounds, 7 ounces and 19 3/4" of perfection, with crazy long fingers and a sweet little face.

Quick summary:
Labor started at 7:45ish am on 4/27. Arrived at hospital at 4:45pm, upstairs at L & D at 5. At 7:34 my water broke, and at 7:44 after 3 pushes, Delilah was born! I did not have any pain medication or an epidural, and I would not have done it any other way. It made for the most intense half hour of my life, but it was SO worth it.

If you don't want to read the long and graphic version, stop now.

No, really, stop now, unless you want to read about my cervix and mucus and stuff.

Ok, here goes!

I had been just generally uncomfortable on Tuesday 4/26, all day, and my low back had been aching all night. My first contractions that were clearly labor contractions started at about 7:45am on 4/27. We just did our normal thing for a Wednesday, since I was on maternity leave already, so basically Chris and James went to teach a music class for a local daycare (well, Chris went to teach, James went to have fun). They came home just about 11, and we went to the library. At that point my contractions were about 7 minutes apart, and while painful/intense didn't really require a whole lot of concentration to get through. While getting dressed right before going to the library I noticed some bloody show, but didn't really think much of it. After the library, we had lunch and watched a movie, and my contractions were closer to 5-6 minutes apart and getting stronger. I took a shower and managed to more or less shave my legs (really, really impressive at pretty much 40 weeks pregnant and in labor...) Each time I went to the bathroom there was an insane amount of mucus, so I knew that my contractions were making me dilate and really lose my plug, as opposed to the past few days where I'd had some mucus but not a lot.

I called my midwives at 3, then called my mom to come get James. We got to the hospital to check in at about 4:30, but didn't actually get checked in until 4:45 because nobody was at the desk We got up to our Labor and Delivery room at 5:00. The nurse we had (for about 5 minutes, due to shift change) was awesome and had observed me through  couple of contractions during the checkin, and said I was doing beautifully. At that point, I was really just making an effort to breathe and relax through the pressure waves, though some were harder to get through than others.

Once up in L&D I had to be on the monitor for 20 minutes. My midwife checked me and I was 4cm, 70%, and -2 station. The waves were still something I could just breathe and relax through, though once I was off the monitor I wanted to be in the bathtub. The nurse told me she'd come back and check on me (as would my midwife) in about an hour and a half, then monitor me some more. This was at about 5:30. By 6:00, in the bath, I was having to vocalize through the waves, and found open sounds like "aaaaaaah" to help the most. About this time I asked Chris to get me a snack, so I had a granola bar. It was nice, and I was sipping water the whole time as well. Yet another perk to not having an epidural this time...

By about 6:40 I wanted to get out of the tub, and onto the birthing ball. That was heaven. I had noticed some more bloody show when I used the toilet and when I was in the bath, and things were really intensifying. I was starting to shake and having a harder time relaxing, but still able to relax between contractions (this was in the bathtub, still). I noticed my waves were much closer together, but I don't know how close as I wasn't looking at a clock. After a few minutes on the ball, I threw up. I made it through a few more waves and started feeling pushy, and decided that it was time to be checked. I paged the nurse, and everyone came in. I was telling Chris at this point that I didn't want to do this anymore, and that I couldn't do it.

My midwife checked me, and I was 6cm, 100% effaced, bulging waters, and Delilah was at 0 and I was definitely in transition. This was at about 7:00/7:15. They put me on the monitor, and gave me oxygen because they noticed that Delilah was having some late decels with contractions. They tried to get my IV locks started (2, in case I needed blood quickly, given my history of postpartum hemorrhage) and ended up having to have Anesthesia come do it, because the nurse couldn't get a stick and blew out veins in both hands (very weird, I usually have awesome veins). The anesthesia person came and got my left one done quickly. Contractions were very intense, and very hard to breathe through, and I really think my vocalizations were probably pretty loud at that point. I was desperately trying to breathe with my midwife (also awesome) through the urge to push but it was difficult to say the least. I remember saying again that I didn't want to do it anymore, that I couldn't, etc. At 7:34 my water broke, and there was some meconium present. I could no longer control my body's urge to push, and the anesthesiologist had just gotten my IV finished on my right hand when I started pushing. I was laying on my left side. Within a few minutes, I was complete and pushing with my urges. I felt like I was about to have a bowel movement (I didn't) and then I felt the "ring of fire," which really wasn't that bad compared the the contractions at that point. My midwife looked down and said "hey, we're having a baby" and everyone sort of paused, not expecting that to be so soon. One more push and Delilah's head was out, and another after that and the rest of her came slithering out. She was born at 7:44pm, after 12 total hours of labor and the most intense 30 minutes of my life. No tears, no stitches, nothing! I feel amazing and am very proud of myself.

The reason for Delilah's decels was that she was all wrapped up in her cord, but her APGARS were 8 and 9, and she's perfect and healthy.

39 Weeks

How Far along: 39 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: About 7 1/2-8 pounds, assuming she's gained an ounce a day since our 36 week u/s which said she was 6lb 1oz at that time

Total weight gain: 19 pounds still.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I'd still sleep better with a newborn at this point. I am glad I'm on maternity leave now, I can actually take long naps every day, because dammit, I need them.

Best Moment this week: Easter was lots of fun with Chris's family. James enjoyed himself, as did Chris and I.

Movement: Yep, still moving, still painful, still wiggly.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: False alarm last Thursday/Friday...I thought I had a slow fluid leak, and paired with painful, intensifying contractions that were getting closer together I thought it was the real deal. Apparently I was wrong on all counts. Otherwise I'm still having contractions but they're not really getting terribly intense yet. I keep saying my Hypnobabies affirmation that my baby knows just when to arrive, and that my body instinctively knows how to give birth, but it's getting a little frustrating to still be pregnant.

Belly button: Still in but very small and shallow crater-like. It looks like a star.

Cravings: Chocolate.

What I miss: Everything. Not being pregnant.(I am grateful to be pregnant, to be able to carry a baby, but at this point I just want to be done with it.)

Stretch Marks: Yep, but still no more new ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything.

What I am looking forward to this week: Every day is closer to the day I meet my daughter. I am enjoying being at home so far, hopefully I'll get some cleaning and stuff done in the next couple days.

38 Weeks

How Far along: 38 weeks, 4 day. As of 5:45 tonight, I will be more pregnant than I've ever been.

Baby size: About 7 pounds

Total weight gain: 19 pounds. Maybe that's a good sign, my MW told me she usually sees a plateau or a pound or two of loss the week before labor starts.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I'd sleep better with a newborn at this point.

Best Moment this week: Um...yeah. I guess my nap on Saturday might count. I have not been in a very good mood the last few days.

Movement: Yep, still moving, still painful, still wiggly.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: Thursdays suck ass. Every Thursday for the last 3 weeks I've had real contractions that either wake me up or start in the morning after I'm up, then increase in frequency and intensity throughout the day, keep me up that night, then come Friday? NOTHING. I just want this kid to be as done as I am. Doesn't she know there is boob juice out here?

Belly button: Still in but very small and shallow crater-like. Also, J thinks he can see his sister through it. He occasionally tries to pull her out through it. This doesn't work.

Cravings: Chocolate.

What I miss: Everything. Not being a raging bitch because my hormones suck.

Stretch Marks: Yep, but still no more new ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything.

What I am looking forward to this week: Every day is closer to the day I meet my daughter. J came at 38 weeks 4 days, so maybe today is my day. Also this is my last week of work! Yay!

37 Weeks!

Once again with the weird line...

How Far along: 37 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: About 7 pounds, maybe 6lb 13 oz (still assuming she's gaining an ounce a day)

Total weight gain: 20 pounds

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I'd sleep better with a newborn at this point.

Best Moment this week: Um...being full term? Ooh, and I got to take a nap both days this weekend! Yeah, my standards have gone down.Though J helped me (well, helped in the way that only a 3 year old can) start seeds for our garden, so that was pretty fun.

Movement: Yeah, although she's definitely run out of room so her movements are either uncomfortable or painful most of the time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: Getting more contractions, but no real change in intensity. They average about 10-12 minutes apart on days I have them, and some days I only have two or three an hour.Oh, and L dropped *again* (which I didn't know was possible) last Thursday. Ouch. So now she basically feels like shes working on falling out.

Belly button: Still in but very small and shallow crater-like.

Cravings: Chocolate, meat, and orange juice.

What I miss: Not being pregnant?

Stretch Marks: Yep, but no new ones lately. Thank goodness.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything.

What I am looking forward to this week: Every day is closer to the day I meet my daughter. J came at 38 weeks 4 days, so hopefully sometime in the next week L will show up.

36 Weeks!

How Far along: 36 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: About 6 pounds, according to our u/s last Thursday, which said she was 6lb 1 oz. So maybe 6lb 5 oz.

Total weight gain: 19 or 20 pounds, depending on the day.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I miss good, sound, painless sleep. I am always sleepy at this point, due to not sleeping well and having to get up at least once a night to pee and for heartburn. Also, contractions now wake me/keep me awake. Fun times.

Best Moment this week: Date weekend! J was at C's parents house for the weekend, so it was just C and I. It was really nice, though I did miss J. C and I got a free lunch at the Melting Pot on Saturday which was awesome (aside from tax/tip, of course).

Movement: Yeah, although she's definitely run out of room so her movements are either uncomfortable or painful most of the time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: Still lots of BH contractions, about 80% are mildly painful (a 1 on a scale of 1-10). They don't seem to be getting more frequent yet though. Plus L is super low...the u/s tech had to actually move her head to even see how far the placenta was from the cervix last week because her head is mashed up against my cervix.

Belly button: Still in but very small.

Cravings: Nothing particularly new.

What I miss: Same as always: bending over, not waddling from my sciatica and the baby having dropped. Being able to bend down and stretch my back out. Sleep. Not having to have a pillow between my knees at night. Being able to sit "like a lady" with my legs together. Being able to hold J and snuggle him close on my lap instead of on top of my belly.

Stretch Marks: Yep, although they *knock on wood* seem to be done reproducing.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything.

What I am looking forward to this week: Full term on Thursday!

35 Weeks

I have no idea about the line through the picture...weird. Also, I remember this sweater being much longer!
How Far along: 35 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: About 6 pounds, assuming she's gaining about 1/2 pound a week (or an ounce a day, per my ticker).

Total weight gain: 18 pounds, depending on the day.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I miss good, sound, painless sleep. I am always sleepy at this point, due to not sleeping well and having to get up at least once a night to pee and for heartburn.

Best Moment this week: My book club friends had a little shower type thing for me on Friday night, it was awesome and so very sweet! Also, J came and napped with me on Saturday; I haven't actually gotten to sleep with my boy since he was a baby.

Movement: Yeah, although she's definitely run out of room so her movements are either uncomfortable or painful most of the time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: Still lots of BH contractions, about 95% are mildly painful (a 1 on a scale of 1-10); however, they aren't too frequent and I can stop taking cramp bark when they become frequent in 3 days! Whee!

Belly button: Still in but very small.

Cravings: Nothing particularly new, I guess apple juice.

What I miss: Same as always: bending over, not walking all gimpy because of my sciatica. (Getting adjusted has definitely helped though!) Being able to bend down and stretch my back out. Sleep. Not having to have a pillow between my knees at night. Being able to sit "like a lady" with my legs together. Being able to hold J and snuggle him close on my lap.

Stretch Marks: Yep, although I haven't gotten new ones in a couple weeks.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything.

What I am looking forward to this week: Ultrasound on Thursday afternoon to see if the placenta moved up. I really, really, really hope it did.

34 Weeks

How Far along: 34 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: About 5 1/2 pounds, assuming she's gaining 1/2 pound a week. This means she's bigger than my sister was at birth. Wowza. Granted, my sister was eeny teeny, but still.

Total weight gain: +17-18 pounds, depending on the day.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I miss good, sound, painless sleep. I'd rather sleep than just about anything else.

Best Moment this week: I got to see FireFall in concert on Saturday, they played an awards ceremony and my brother was in the orchestra with them. That was pretty cool. Also my mom's birthday was yesterday, so that was fun. We got to hang out with my brother E and his girlfriend M, whom I really like. I think she's the best one he's had, and I think she might be a little crazy for liking him so much. I did get some good snuggles in with J, too. So I guess the weekend was the best moment?

Movement: Yep, all the time. I need a break sometimes.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: Still lots of BH contractions, about 90% are mildly painful (a 1 on a scale of 1-10)

Belly button: Still in but very small.

Cravings: Chocolate, fruit (especially berries), steak. Ribs. Mmmm, meat.

What I miss: Same as last week: bending over, not walking all gimpy because of my sciatica. (Getting adjusted has definitely helped though!) Being able to bend down and stretch my back out. Sleep. Not having to have a pillow between my knees at night. Being able to sit "like a lady" with my legs together. Being able to hold J and snuggle him close on my lap.

Stretch Marks: Yep, although the most recent rash is gone. Whew.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything.

What I am looking forward to this week: Erm...Being 35 weeks on Thursday, and then the weekend. Every day is closer to full term, and closer to when I can meet my girl and she can stop abusing me.

29 Weeks

How Far along: 29 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about 3 pounds. I believe it, with the way she throws herself around in there.

Total weight gain: +13 pounds, holding steady.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: I really can't get enough, but I am still not sleeping well. I've had to resort to taking a benadryl every night just so my itchy belly doesn't keep me up.

Best Moment this week: Helping James with his "valentimes" for his friends at daycare. He even insisted that the dog should have one. Also made some further improvements on the kids' room this weekend.

Movement: Yep :-) All.The.Time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: More frequent BH contractions, generally every 15-20 minutes in the evenings. I am going to bring it up at my appointment on Friday. During the day they're more mellow, more like 1 or 2 an hour.

Belly button: Confused. I think it's happy with it's current nose-like innie-outie state.

Cravings: Chocolate. Ice cream sundaes. Steak.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining easily. Feeling like a normal person. Being able to reach things in cabinets/the sink without my belly getting in the way. Deep, all through the whole night sleep.

Stretch Marks: Yep, complete with the rash. Ugh.I never got these red ones with James.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything still, including weight gain, cravings, and the scariness of my naked belly. The way this child wiggles instead of punching and kicking.

What I am looking forward to this week: I have an appointment on Friday, when I will be 30 weeks and 1 day. Holy moly.

Also, fun fact: the belly is now large enough that the motion-sensor sinks at work detect it. Awesome.

Monday, February 7, 2011

28 Weeks!

How Far along: 28 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about 2 1/2 pounds.

Total weight gain: +13 pounds (though it's anywhere between 10 and 13, depending on the day)

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I miss deep, restful sleep though. Chris actually asked me last night how I can sleep with such a wiggly critter in my belly. I said "Not well." The problem is that most of my sleep seems to be in REM rather than deeper sleep. I am a tired Tena.

Best Moment this week: Getting the kids' room reorganized, and seeing James get so excited about his little sister who "is comin' soon!" according to him.

Movement: Yep :-) All.The.Time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: None, really, though BH contractions are getting more frequent. Not timeable, but at least one an hour generally. Don't worry, I am keeping track of them in case things intensify.

Belly button: The top is still working it's way out. It's *lovely*. It kind of looks like a mouse nose or something.

Cravings: Donuts and chocolate. And ice cream. And nachos. And just Mexican food in general. Oh, and steak. *drool*

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining easily. Feeling like a normal person. Being able to reach things in cabinets/the sink without my belly getting in the way. Carrying James around without my belly protesting. And, as of this weekend, being able to reach the bottom of the washing machine. I guess I no longer get to transfer things to the dryer...darn.

Stretch Marks: More have joined the ranks. And my midwife confirmed that it is, in fact, PUPPS. Not much to be done about it, I just can't use anything scented *at all* on my belly or it make it worse, including soap. I can use hydrocortisone cream and take benadryl if I can't sleep from the itchies. The benadryl helped a bit, it seemed a little better the next morning. I've gotten some recommendations from a friend though that I'm going to try. This rash is not pretty, and it's spreading. Gah.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything still, including weight gain, cravings, and the scariness of my naked belly. The way this child wiggles instead of punching and kicking; she's got a very different personality than her brother.

What I am looking forward to this week: Chris's birthday is today, so I'm making cheesecake this week. MMMmmm. Also, 29 weeks on Thursday. *Gulp*

I also get to go for appointments every 2 weeks now, and I have an ultrasound scheduled for 32 weeks to followup on my low-lying placenta. I wonder if some women just have them more than others? I had it with James too. I'm not even a little worried about it, since they move up, and I get to see my girl on a fancy schmancy ultrasound at the consulting OBs office instead of a cheapo Kaiser one. *happy dance*

27 Weeks. AKA, Hello 3rd Trimester

How Far along: 27 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs over 2 pounds.

Total weight gain: +11 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. Although deep sleep is getting harder to come by.

Best Moment this week: My birthday :-).

Movement: Yep :-) All.The.Time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: None, really, though BH (Braxton-Hicks) contractions are getting more frequent and I've had some non-BH contractions. Ouchie. Fortunately they went away after about 45 minutes, but ow. Not in a hurry to experience those again until the real deal, though they gave me an excuse to practice relaxing around the pain.

Belly button: The top is still working it's way out. It's *lovely*.

Cravings: Donuts and chocolate. And ice cream. Honestly, how I have only gained 11 pounds is a mystery.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining easily. Feeling like a normal person. Being able to reach things in cabinets/the sink without my belly getting in the way.

Stretch Marks: More have joined the ranks. And I'm getting a rash on the sides of my belly where the new stretchies end. *Joy* I'm going to be asking my midwife about that on Friday, I really hope it isn't PUPPPS again.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything still, including weight gain, cravings, and the scariness of my bare belly.

What I am looking forward to this week: MW appointment on Friday. Whee!

It's snowing. I wanna go home and curl up with my dogs and read a book.

Monday, January 24, 2011

26 Weeks!

How Far along: 26 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about 2 pounds.

Total weight gain: +11 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I've been sleeping more restlessly the last week or so. Not so nice.

Best Moment this week: It was all decent. No moments particularly stand out. We did go to a birthday party for my coworker's little girl who is just a couple weeks younger than J, so that was fun.

Movement: Yep :-) All.The.Time.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: N/A.

Belly button: The top is still working it's way out. It's totally freaky.

Cravings: Chinese food.I also got to try deep fried lotus root. OMG. It was amazing. I wish I could just have a bucket of it. That's not really so healthy though...

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining easily. Feeling like a normal person. Being able to reach things in cabinets/the sink without my belly getting in the way.

Stretch Marks: Same ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything still. Weight gain is different this time, too...

What I am looking forward to this week: My birthday is on Saturday! Also, I enter the 3rd trimester on Thursday. Crazy.

No yoga since last week...we just had too much going on so that by the time the evening rolled around I would just go to bed instead of doing my yoga. :-/

Monday, January 17, 2011

25 Weeks!

How Far along: 25 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about 1.8 pounds.

Total weight gain: +8 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I still need a pillow between my knees. I like sleep. I'd like to go take a nap now.

Best Moment this week: James' birthday party was pretty fun, he had a great time. I've got to say though, my favorite moment was sitting with him in our recliner and watching Toy Story. It was just wonderful to get to cuddle my boy for a bit.

Movement: Yep :-) Lots of it.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: N/A.

Belly button: In but shallow and tiny, and the top is starting to poke out. It's totally freaky.

Cravings: Fritos. Donuts. It seems that Lilah is remembering how much she likes fried stuff.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining without looking like a stranded turtle (not to mention the triangle belly...thanks, muscle separation). Lack of near constant pain in my hips and back when I am not sitting down.

Stretch Marks: Same ones that sometimes are visible at an angle, and my old ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything. This child is very different than James!

What I am looking forward to this week: Payday? Does that make me lame?

Also, just to brag, I actually did my yoga this week! YAY! Well, okay, so I did it yesterday. It felt SO amazingly good. The way that our living room has been rearranged makes it easier, too, because I have more room. I'm in way less pain today than I was yesterday morning, so I think it helps. I'm going to try to do it again tonight. My goal is to do at least 30 minutes of my prenatal yoga every night.

Monday, January 10, 2011

24 Weeks!

How Far along: 24 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about a pound and a half and is just over a foot long head to toe.

Total weight gain: +8 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I still need a pillow between my knees. I like sleep. I usually have very bizarre dreams, too, thanks to crazy pregnancy hormones. Including one where Chris was a Jesus T-Rex. Hmm.

Best Moment this week: PASSING THE 1 HOUR GLUCOSE TEST! Woot! No GD for me, yay!!! Also, of course, wiggles from my girl. James got to feel her this week, so now every time he places his hand on my belly he says his sister is kicking him. (He did also get kicked in the head the other night, which is what he gets for using my belly as a pillow.)We also had our annual Beerika party on Saturday, which was tremendously fun.

Movement: Yep :-) Lots of it. My midwife asked if I felt her at least 14 times a day, and I laughed and said it would be a nice break if she only moved 14 times a day.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: N/A.

Belly button: In but shallow and tiny, and if I poke next to it I can make it look like a really freaky volcano.

Cravings: Meat. I still LOVE the smell of onions, too.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining without looking like a stranded turtle. Not being in pain whenever I stand up or walk.

Stretch Marks: Same 3 (or maybe 5 now...) that sometimes are visible at an angle, and my old ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything. Especially how much pain I am in.

What I am looking forward to this week: Not having GD. Hee hee. Also, James's birthday party on Saturday.

Monday, January 3, 2011

23 weeks!

How Far along: 23 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about a pound and is about a foot long.

Total weight gain: +7 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I still need a pillow between my knees. I like sleep.

Best Moment this week: Wiggles from my girl. Hanging out with friends on New Year's Night where we had lots of food and fun while James was at Grandma's house. Ooh, and James started calling me "Mommy" instead of "Mama." It kills me.

Movement: Yep :-) Lots of it.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: N/A.

Belly button: In but shallow and tiny.

Cravings: Meat. And randomly, fruit flavored licorice things.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining without looking like a stranded turtle.  Being able to carry James around, especially when he's sick and feels crummy and just wants Mommy to hold him.

Stretch Marks: Same 3 that sometimes are visible at an angle, and my old ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much everything. I think that about sums it up.

What I am looking forward to this week: Appointment on Friday, where I get to do my 1 hour glucose test. *Joy*

Monday, December 27, 2010

22 weeks!

How Far along: 22 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she weighs about a pound. My insides beg to differ.

Total weight gain: +6 pounds. Thank you, Christmas cookies.

Maternity clothes: Yep.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I like sleep.

Best Moment this week: Wiggles from my girl. Christmas! Watching J open presents and play with his cousins and tell his little sister "Merry Crimmas"

Movement: Yep :-) Lots of it.

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: N/A.

Belly button: In

Cravings: Egg rolls.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to use my abs/sit up from reclining without looking like a stranded turtle.

Stretch Marks: Just the same 3 that sometimes are visible at an angle. Otherwise no new ones.

What is different this time around: Pretty much, everything. I think that about sums it up.

What I am looking forward to this week: New Years! And one week closer to meeting my (ok, our) daughter.

Monday, December 20, 2010

21 weeks!

How Far along: 21 weeks, 4 days

Baby size: According to my ticker, she's 11" head to toe and about 15 ounces.

Total weight gain: +3 pounds still

Maternity clothes: Pants, some shirts.

Sleep: Mmmm, sleep. I like it a lot. Naps are awesome.I can easily sleep like 12 hours a night, when J doesn't decide to wake up 3 times at night... ugh. I still need a pillow between my knees.

Best Moment this week: Wiggles from my girl. James being excited about "[his] sister!" Seeing my dad and stepmom on Saturday.

Movement: Yep :-)

Gender: GIRL!

Labor signs: N/A, Braxton Hicks contractions suck though.

Belly button: In

Cravings/Aversions: The usual cravings, no aversions. Orange juice, peppermint+chocolate, chocolate in general, meat, the smell of onions.

What I miss: Bending over, being able to pick up James for more than a few seconds.

Stretch Marks: I have 3 that seem to have reappeared just above my belly button. They are small and pretty light and look like a very small person scratched me.

What is different this time around: IT'S A GIRL! So pretty much, everything. I think that about sums it up.

What I am looking forward to this week: Christmas!

Hush Puppy is....

A GIRL! We are over the moon happy that she's healthy. She's a beautiful little girl (at least, from what we can tell on the ultrasound pictures) and looks quite different from her brother. Lilah will be a wonderful addition to our family, and James is already very excited about his "wiggly little sister."

Skeletor baby!!

Lovely Little Lilah!

I keep mentally "squee"-ing that we're actually having a daughter. It's amazing!

13 Weeks!

Hmm. My face looks chubby in this picture. I blame the angle.

How Far along: 13 weeks, 4 days

Total weight gain: -3 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Pants. Some shirts (as modeled above :-)!) I still have to sort of fold down the panel on all the pants, and I am dreaming of some secret-fit panel pants. *sigh*

Sleep: Mmm, sleep. It's harder for me to stay in a deep sleep, and I usually wake up to pee in the wee hours (bahahahaha) of the morning.

Best Moment this week: Feeling hush puppy move! Very, very light flutters, and only when I am sitting absolutely peacefully (and don't, say, have a toddler jumping on me...) and am able to be in tune with my body.

Movement: Yep :-)

Gender: I think it's a girl, but it will probably be a boy.

Labor signs: N/A

Belly button: In

Cravings/Aversions: Fondue. Want.  Meat in general. Also, pasta salad. Mmmmm. No aversions, though the smell of spaghetti sauce makes me gag a little.

What I miss: Red wine, sleeping like a normal person.

Stretch Marks: No new ones.

What is different this time around: Morning sickness is mostly gone! Yay! Hips have already spread, boobs have already gotten bigger. Um. Yeah. I have a definite bump now, vs not really popping til 15/16 weeks with James.

What I am looking forward to this week: More HP wiggles! Also, lunch, but that's really just at the moment.

12 Weeks!

How Far along: 12 weeks, 4 days

Total weight gain: -4 pounds. Still. I think I've gained back 0.2 pounds.

Maternity clothes: Pants. Some shirts. My mom is going to take me shopping for maternity tops for winter, since my regular winter shirts are too short (and I got rid of the longer non-maternity sweaters I wore with James). I do have to fold down the panel on all the pants, but I had to do that with James until well into the 2nd trimester anyway.

Sleep: Yes, please. I am always ready to sleep. However, today I am especially sleepy because Jake and his family came over last night, so we didn't get to bed til like 11. Then J woke up at 2:15am screaming (nightmare?), and has a cold this morning. *yawn*

Best Moment this week: Morning sickness (knock on wood) seems to be heading out. It has been worse than with James, I can't say I'm sorry to see it go.

Movement: N/A

Gender: I'm still thinking girl, but becoming more skeptical. I tell people "I think it's a girl, but it will probably be a boy."

Labor signs: N/A

Belly button: In

Cravings/Aversions: Cravings: buttermilk pancakes with strawberries, naked grilled chicken salad from Qdoba (omg, best thing ever). Meat in general.

What I miss: Red wine. Also, sleeping like a normal person.

Stretch Marks: No new ones.

What is different this time around: Morning sickness is still improving. Hips have already spread, boobs have already gotten bigger. I have a definite bump now, vs not really popping til 15/16 weeks with J.

What I am looking forward to this week: The continuing downfall of morning sickness. The weekend. Sleep.

11 Weeks!

How Far along: 11 weeks, 4 days

Total weight gain: -4 pounds. Hmm. And here I thought I was doing better.

Maternity clothes: Pants. Heaven. As long as I fold down the panel, because otherwise it squishes my stomach and makes the nausea worse.

Sleep: Yes, please. The pillow is still mandatory for sleeping. I think at this point I need about 12 hours a night, but if someone (cough *Chris* cough cough) wakes me up "early" on a weekend, I can't go back to sleep because I have about 5 minutes before I get ravenously hungry and must. eat. now.

Best Moment this week: Surprise ultrasound at my appointment last week. Shockingly, HP didn't cooperate with the doppler, so we had to get an ultrasound. *Darn* I will eventually scan the picture. At this point HP looks a little like a person so that's cool. Oh, and I found out one of my friends from childhood is pregnant too (congrats, Kristen!)! She's due at the end of May. Very exciting!

Movement: N/A

Gender: I'm still thinking girl. James still says it's his sister. He'll even correct you. If you say "is that a brother in there?" His response will be. "Brother? SISTER!"

Labor signs: N/A

Belly button: In

Cravings/Aversions: Cravings: German pancakes, grilled chicken, blueberry bagels with butter. Steak.

What I miss: Red wine. It smells so amazing. Also, sleeping like a normal person.

Stretch Marks: No new ones but my old ones are definitely easier to see as my belly distends.

What is different this time around: Morning sickness is still slowly improving, though Hush Puppy seems to hate Mondays. I have thrown up each of the past three Mondays, but no other days last week. Spreading hips. The cravings are totally different. This time they seem to center on meat, versus fruit with James, and with James I had an absolute aversion to meat (it literally made me throw up) until about 20 weeks.

What I am looking forward to this week: The continuing downfall of morning sickness. The weekend. Sleep.
